JO DAVIESS COUNTY, Ill. (KWQC) – One man is dead following a vehicle rollover in rural Jo Daviess County on Thursday.
At approximately 1:35 pm on November 24, 2016, the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle on its side in a shallow creek. Officers found the crash about 900 feet north of East Chelsea Road along North Tiger Whip Road. A hazardous material response team was dispatched to contain oil and gas that had leaked into the creek.
Police say they determined that the black 1995 Chevy Blazer had been traveling northbound on North Tiger Whip Road when it veered of the road toward the east. It then struck a cement culvert and rolled, landing on the passenger side in the creek.
However, the vehicle had no occupants when police arrived on scene. A search party and two K-9 teams swept the creek but were unable to locate the driver.
Around 7:45 pm, a citizen found a body in a farm pasture about a half mile north of the crash. The deceased was determined to be the driver and was identified as 32-year-old Adam R. Ross.
Police say that both the crash and the death remain under investigation.
