UPDATE: Power to NorthPark Mall was restored at 8:24 a.m.
UPDATE: MidAmerican told KWQC at 8:15 a.m. its crews found a faulty piece of equipment on a feeder line and work is now underway to switch customers to other circuits.
MidAmerican says at that point “if no other issues are found, line crews are estimating they can have customers restored within an hour.”
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Well, this puts a new spin on “Black Friday.”
A power outage around 7:00 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2016 left NorthPark Mall in the dark as early-bird Black Friday shoppers were looking for deals.
As of 7:20 a.m., MidAmerican Energy reported nearly 4,400 Davenport customers were without power, but the reason was not immediately available.
At 7:49 a.m., MidAmerican tweeted, “We don’t have a cause yet. Transmission and distribution crews were dispatched.”
Fans of KWQC’s Facebook page posted numerous updates about their own power outages.
“Neighborhood by marquette post office completely dark,” posted Andrea Lincoln.
Drew Jay offered a humorous explanation for the outage, posting “Clark Griswold plugged in his Christmas lights.”
