DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – The River Bandits teamed up with St. Ambrose University to knock a new scholarship program out of the park.

On Monday the president of the River Bandits, David Heller, along with the president of St. Ambrose University, Sister Joan Lescinski announced a new yearly scholarship program to St. Ambrose University as part of the Bandits Scholars Program. The inaugural SAU scholarship recipient will be a rising junior from the Quad Cities region. The scholarship winner will be announced in the summer of 2017.

The River Bandits said the scholarship announcement is its way of expanding what is already the largest scholarship program in Minor League Baseball. The total value of the Bandit Scholar Program is $60,000 per year for three scholarships.
