Goalkeeper who survived plane crash has leg removed

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) –  Doctors in Colombia have amputated the right leg of a goalkeeper for a Brazilian soccer club whose charter plane crashed in Colombia.

Jakson Follmann of the Chapecoense club was one of six people who survived the crash. Doctors at the hospital where Follmann is being treated say the player is in an intensive care unit and in stable condition. The hospital says in a statement that Follmann’s family wanted to make public the news of his amputation.
