DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) — Three months of research, writing, and design. Christmas season arrives at the main gallery in the German American Heritage Center in Davenport.

Seventh grade students from Davenport’s Creative Arts Academy designed an exhibit titled: The Untold Story of Santa Claus: Behind the White Beard.

The students learned about exhibit design, teamwork, and communication skills. They developed text panels and color schemes.

The exhibit tells the story about Santa Claus and Christmas customs both in the United States and abroad. There are unique dolls, costumes, ornaments, nativity scenes and nutcrackers.

Student Brighton Hall displayed a Coca Cola Santa from 1930. Seventh grader Mercy Schaffert enjoyed a Christmas Pyramid which spins.

Sydney Park says the thrill is also in discovering new things about Christmas traditions.

Kelly Lao from the Heritage Center says the exhibit gives visitors an interesting history about Saint Nicholas. She thinks student creativity is impressive.

This holiday hit will be at the German American Heritage Center through January 8th. It’s sure to put you in the Christmas Spirit.
