UPDATE: Whiteside County police investigating shots-fired incident

RURAL ROCK FALLS, Ill. (KWQC) – Police are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred in rural Rock Falls late Thursday morning.

At approximately 11:20 am on Dec. 1, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fight involving shots fired in the 2100 block of East French Street. During the investigation, police determined that the fight involved guns, knives, and multiple subjects. They also found that a vehicle was hit by a bullet, though the subject who fired the bullet is still unknown. None of the subjects were treated for any injuries.

Police are still conducting interviews in regards to this incident. Police believe that social media comments may have provoked the fight.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Rock Falls Police, Sterling Police and Illinois State Police. This incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact either the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office or Whiteside County Crime Stoppers.
