Downtown Davenport’s The Last Picture House unveils rooftop with grand opening celebration

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A grand opening celebration will be held to celebrate the opening of a rooftop at Downtown Davenport’s boutique movie theater and cocktail bar, The Last Picture House. It’s one of the newest developments for the downtown area.

Guests will be able to watch movies under the stars at the new rooftop lounge all while enjoying cocktails and mocktails, workers said.

The Last Picture House is located at 325 E Second St, Downtown Davenport.

Guests have to reserve a seat for showings on the rooftop only on Fridays and Saturdays.

Bar Manager at The Last Picture House, Alexa Parkin, says guests have a lot to look forward to during the weekdays.

“During the week, we’ll kind of be rocking with some happy hour,” Bar Manager at The Last Picture House, Alexa Parkin, said. “You’ll have different things up on the screen, might be some movies, might be some music shows going on up there. Then we’re also looking to have some live music up here as well. So different options as far as entertainment on the rooftop, but not always ticketed. A lot of opportunities to just come up for a drink for happy hour.”

The rooftop at The Last Picture House can seat about 80 guests.

Parkin says the cocktail menu on the rooftop is different than the one on the main level.

“You’ve got a lot more kind of nostalgic flavors that we’ve got up here,” Parkin said. “A lot of the 90s kids are definitely gonna recognize some things from our childhood for sure. I mean, just the weather up here is beautiful. The views are insane. Then you get to watch movies up here too. So have the riverfront view, great neighbors downtown, I think this part of downtown Davenport, it’s becoming a place where a lot more people can kind of come down and stay.”

Tickets to watch a movie on the rooftop are $9.
