Homeless shootings suspect charged in 3rd slaying

ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities say a man arrested for the shooting deaths of two homeless men in Atlanta also is suspected in the fatal shooting of a woman in nearby Decatur.

Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross said Friday that 34-year-old Aeman Lovel Presley has been arrested on a murder charge in the Dec. 6 death of Karen Pearce. Decatur police have said the 44-year-old hairstylist was shot after leaving a restaurant.

Earlier Friday, Atlanta Police Sgt. Greg Lyon said Presley had been arrested on two counts of murder for the separate shootings of homeless men as they slept. Police have said that 42-year-old Dorian Jenkins and 68-year-old Tommy Mims were repeatedly shot using the same bullet type.

Neither department provided further information Friday evening. Jail records do not list an attorney for Presley.

Previous versions of this story reported an incorrect age for Pearce. She was 44, not 42.
