Morrisonville schools hire interim superintendent

MORRISONVILLE, Ill. (AP) — An interim superintendent has been hired within the Morrisonville School District following the unexpected death of first-year Superintendent Karen Perry.

Bill Harmon, president of the Morrisonville School Board, says the board decided to hire Richard Wilson at an emergency meeting Saturday. Wilson was a former superintendent at Taylorville schools and served as interim superintendent in Morrisonville for the past two years.

Harmon says the board would like to find a permanent replacement before the end of the school year, but it might not be possible.

The principal of Morrisonville Elementary School says Perry suffered a stroke last week while she was recovering from open-heart surgery. She tells the State Journal-Register ( ) that a second surgery to address the problem was unsuccessful.

Perry died on Friday.
