San Diego car sliced in half during wreck, killing 4 people

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Police say a car ran a red light, slammed into a van then careened into a pole that sliced it in half in San Diego, in a crash that left four people dead.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1PZJzPA ) that San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick says the crash happened around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Battrick says three people were ejected from the car and died. A fourth person died inside the car and one was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

He says two of the five people in the van had minor injuries.

None of the occupants has been identified. It’s unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
